Check out this potential fantastic offer:
3 doses of Australian produced Astra Zeneca Vaccine in exchange for one of your Pfizer of Moderna vaccine doses.
If you’ve community transmission and hospitalisations then the Astra Zeneca vaccine will have a profound impact taking pressure off your likely overloaded healthcare system.
We’ve 50million doses of Astra Zeneca vaccine rolling off our conveyer belts at CSL this year – they’d be of massive benefit to you.
Recent Scottish data shows the benefit of vaccination – Astra Zeneca 94% and Pfizer85% in reducing hospital admissions.
There are a few countries in the world which have found themselves to be in the fortunate position of no community transmission and no hospitalisations.
We in Australia are one of them and we see that because of this vaccines will have a 0% impact on reducing hospital admissions.
Our Goal in Australia is to achieve herd immunity – your Pfizer or Moderna vaccines will help us get there.
We want to work with you and provide honest data as we work together to help one another achieve our goals.
We know the Astra Zeneca vaccine can’t achieve our goal of herd immunity because of its low efficacy of 62% with the original strain.
Vaccine efficacy needs to be at least 70% with 100% population coverage based on R value . If you’d like to learn more please watch this fantastic presentation on the COVID vaccination topic by Prof Raina MacIntyre.
It’s worth noting this presentation was made prior to awareness of the minimal efficacy of Astra Zeneca vaccine in combatting the South African variant. The extremely poor efficacy against this variant has led South Africa to give away their 1 million doses of Astra Zeneca vaccine to other countries.
One imagines the greater the spread of COVID across the world the greater the development of new resistant strains.
Herein lies another benefit for us both in getting our Astra Zeneca vaccines to you – helping decrease your community transmission and the development of more resistant strains internationally.
Protecting you protects us too.
Contractual obligations have left us with 51 million doses of Astra Zeneca being produced by CSL in Melbourne.
This could convert to 17million doses of Pfizer or Moderna if you are able to offer them. Combined with the 20 million doses of Pfizer we have already been offered this will prove to be more than enough for us to have the best stab (parden the pun) at achieving herd immunity.
We would like to retain a small amount of Astra Zeneca (say 100,000 doses) for ring vaccination in the event of a community outbreak as we recently experienced in Sydney’s Northern Beaches and Melbournes Holiday Inn outbreak.
We do hope that our recent acceptance of the aerosol transmission of coronavirus coupled with improved quarantine facilities within appropriately designed and ventilated accommodation away from major population density will also help keep COVID at bay.
While Australia is a vast nation and there have been concerns about refrigeration requirements for Pfizer – we realise this is not so much of an issue any more and know that we will be able to deliver Pfizer vaccines to even our remotest communities.
Given reinvigorated and better leadership and our great Australian spirit we can put our minds to pretty much anything.
All our very best to you from our Island Home.
Yours always.

PS I’m not sure what’s in that Pfizer vaccine but since I received the jab on Friday I feel like a new man.
