Face Shields

Several Australian groups have been working hard to develop & manufacture face shields for front line healthcare staff. A major hurdle has been ARTG registration. Some have now achieved this – there registration certification and information listed first.

Goggles

FDA and CE labelled medical safety goggles.

fit well to the face and help minimise fogging given their vents and the distance they protrude from face. There is protective plastic wrapping on both inside and outside which appears it should be removed prior to wearing. They are labelled as single use only

(It would be nice to see if/how they can be re-used and re-processed given the limited number – information on goggle reprocessing here).

EN14126:2003 is the standard to determine whether protective clothing offers necessary protection against infective agents, which prescribes the requirements for materials, seams and garments.
